Howdy Folks!
The Golden Civic Foundation has partnered with home-town legend Coors Brewing Co. to present Oktoberfest with a Wild West kick! Our 2023 Wild West Oktoberfest will highlight Golden’s unique history and culture and celebrate the Golden community with a two-day festival featuring Western and German activities including live music, fun contests, great food, and of course, great BEER! Friday evening we’ll host a smaller, high-end Bavarian bash for adult, Golden-residents. Saturday’s all-day festivities will be open to the general public and will include adult and family-friendly activities. And to make things even cooler, all proceeds will benefit the Golden Civic Foundation and our work For the Good of Golden - aka the Golden community!

We're excited to partner with AC Golden to be serving their hand-crafted flavors at our event! Celebrating their 15th Anniversary, AC Golden is craft brewery located inside the Coors Brewery in Golden. Their brewing team has over 150 years of collective brewing experience(that's with 7 brewers total!), and all in all, there is a team of 15 people that run the entire brewing company! The Coors family obviously has deep roots here in Golden and a huge reputation around the Globe, so naturally we're getting thirsty thinking about the 8 different flavors we'll have on tap this year, including a special Oktoberfest Lager for us all to enjoy!

Your receipt is proof of purchase and can be printed or saved and shown at the Wild West Oktoberfest event check in table for admission. Merchandise can be picked up at the event check in booth. 

Limited table and chair seating will be provided. Due to our special event permit, please do not bring outside beverages and/or alcohol. Food will be available for purchase from a variety of food trucks. Sorry no pets are allowed! Please note that event proceeds will support the Golden Civic Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization. All ticket sales are final and are "rain or shine." Tickets to this event are non-refundable.

What should I wear? 

It’s become a tradition for nearly all of our guests to come in costume and really makes our events fun! German and/or western costumes are encouraged for ALL guests (think lederhosen or dirndl with a cowboy hat and boots!). Throughout the day

Where should I park my car (or my bike!)?

Parking is tight on any weekend in Golden so we encourage all locals (or semi-locals) to walk, bike or ride share if possible!

The Wild West Oktoberfest Biergarten at the Clear Creek Lot is surrounded by numerous free parking lots. If these fill up, there are also additional public parking garages on the West side of Jackson Street between 11th and 13th Streets, a large public lot on the CoorsTek property and temporary event parking at the Coors Wellness Center lot off of 12th and Ford.

On Saturday from noon to 10pm, Bike Walk Golden will also be hosting a large, secure and chaperoned bike corral located off of 10th Street between East and Archer Streets. We do ask bikers to bring your own locks. Although the lot will be closely and constantly supervised, owner locks are required in case bikes are not retrieved after the close of the event.

All guests are advised to lock your bike with your own lock. This bike valet-corral will be monitored until 10:15pm.
Guests are advised that you are parking your bike at your own risk and neither Golden Civil Foundation or Bike Walk Golden are resposible for damage or theft.

Do I need to buy tickets in advance?

We have sold out of our Friday night Bavarian Banquet and we will do our darn tootin’ best to sell out of our 3,000 tickets Saturday’s festivities prior to the event. If you do not buy tickets in advance, be sure to check out website where we will post ticket status. If we do not sell out of tickets, we will welcome walk up ticket purchase at the Check In gate.

Once you have purchased a ticket, you’ll receive an email with a QR code that we will scan for you to enter the event.

For Friday’s night event, must you be a local? 

Friday night’s Bavarian Banquet ($150 per ticket) is intended to bring Golden residents together to connect, celebrate friends and community and fundraise for our Golden-based projects and non-profit organizations that help the community thrive. So, while you don’t have to be a local to attend, you’ll have more fun if you are and if you come with the intent to celebrate with and support the Golden community.

Celebrate Oktoberfest in the World’s Biggest Little Beer Town! 

Dress up in your best Germany-meets-Wild West costumes (think lederhosen or dirndl with a cowboy hat and boots!) and skedaddle on down to “Where the West Lives” in Golden, Colorado for Wild West Oktoberfest!   

The Golden Civic Foundation has partnered with Coors Brewing Co. to celebrate Golden’s unique German and Western history and colorful culture with a day full of live music and entertainment, contests, great food, and of course, BEER! Tasty German, BBQ and other vittles will be served up all day and Coors Brewing Co. will be pouring eight varieties of beer including AC Golden’s exclusive, Munich-Style Wild West Oktoberfest special lager. Kids won’t miss out because AC Golden’s Wild West Oktoberfest lager is not the only beer that will be seved. Golden’s second’s largest brewery, Golden City Brewery, has also generously brewed up a specialty Root Beer as well!  

Entertainment in the Coors Beer Hall will include live Western and German music and polka dancing and entertainment. Family-friendly activities offered in the Confluence Corral will feature mechanical bull riding, a petting corral with Pickles the miniature horse, lariat looping, crafts, games, and programming by the Colorado Cowboy Gathering, Golden Hayride, Golden History Museum and Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave.

Tickets are $30 per ticket and the event does have a limited capacity. If tickets are not sold out prior to the event, "walk-in" tickets will be sold at the gate.

Guests can sign up for all contests at the event except for yodeling - which requires advance video submission auditions. For yodeling, all contestants need to submit a one minute or less audio entry to Contactus@goldencivicfoundation.org

We're calling on all yodelers who would like to compete this year to submit their entry to Contactus@goldencivicfoundation.org with a 1 minute or less video displaying their yodeling skills to be considered. Submissions must also include a cell phone number and email address and the contestant must be present at the event on Saturday from 1 to 3pm. Winning entries will be announced by September 15th, and you'll be entered to perform your yodeling live on stage at the Wild West Oktoberfest on Saturday September 23rd! Winners will receive $250 cash prize along with a $250 gift card from YoColorado! 

International Yodeling Champion Vic Anderson will be the master judge, along with 2 other yodeling veterans. 

The rules are quite simple: 4 minute yodel that will be timed and contestant cannot go overtime. Either cowboy(western) or alpine(swiss) yodeling have the same consideration. The ability to keep in tune will be a judging point. Only one instrument may be used as accompaniment. Groups such as Duo’s, trio’s, quartets etc will be judged the same as a single entry, also only one instrument as accompaniment. 

It's going to be a darn-tootin' heck of a time! Get your entries in soon, and tell all your yodeling friends and family! We hope to see you there! Yee-Haw!

However, almost all of our live music, contests and entertainment will take place in the Coors Beer Hall which is a VERY large, covered tent with beer hall style table seating. If the weather is unpredictable, we do recommend that guests bring jackets or rain gear. 

Are tickets refundable?
